Position Overview

In the evolving digital ecosystem, the Web Applications Engineer serves as a core technical contributor within the IT department, responsible for the development, deployment, and optimization of web-based platforms and services. This role combines deep expertise in front-end development, system integration, and DevOps practices to support both public-facing websites and internal web applications. The engineer collaborates across departments to ensure all digital platforms are secure, scalable, accessible, and aligned with institutional objectives, always improving the user experience and customer journey across the digital touchpoints to optimize customer acquisition and retention.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and maintain functional, responsive, and cross-platform digital assets, including websites, mobile apps, web forms, and marketing technology products (CRM, social media, ad networks, etc.)
  • Execute digital experience road map by supporting Marketing and Student Experience initiatives to develop, configure, and implement technologies that optimize customer acquisition and retention.
  • Develop and support web services, APIs, and integrations that connect internal platforms, marketing tools, and third-party systems.
  • Own the development and maintenance of organization website.
  • Ensure data accuracy and compliance with digital privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), etc. Function as in-house expert on maintaining data governance and responsible data management.
  • Collaborate closely between business teams and external marketing agencies to resolve technical issues and enhance digital presence.
  • Partner with IT leadership and vendors to evaluate, recommend, and implement new technologies.
  • Lead quality assurance processes, run functional, performance, and accessibility tests to enhance user experience and conversion rates.
  • Research and implement industry best practices, emerging technologies, and frameworks to enhance digital strategy and marketing effectiveness.
  • Design, develop, and maintain student-facing web forms using FormAssembly, Anthology Forms Builder, and other platforms ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and seamless integration with back-end systems.
  • Lead and enforce structured development, testing, and change control processes to ensure integrity, scalability, and reliability of web applications and digital services. Utilize version control systems (Git), staging environments, automated and manual testing protocols, and documentation standards to manage deployments, minimize downtime, and support traceability across software development lifecycle.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on the effective use of digital tools and platforms.

Required Education & Experience

  • Associates degree in Web Development, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in web development.
  • An additional 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Technical Requirements/ Core Competencies

  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript: Fundamental languages for structuring, styling, and adding interactivity to web pages.
  • Form Handling: Experience with HTML forms, validation (client & server side), and form submissions.
  • Understanding UX/UI Principles: Layout, typography, color theory, and design psychology.
  • Prototyping and Wireframing
  • Responsive and Adaptive Design: Ensuring usability across devices.
  • SEO and Core Web Vitals: Enhancing discoverability and page performance.
  • Social Media and Content Marketing: Automation and tracking social efforts.
  • Proficiency in implementing change control processes using tools. Experience with versioning, release planning, documentation, and rollback strategies to ensure controlled, auditable deployment of updates across environments.

$80,990 - $90,522 annual salary, DOE
