Overview

Step up your career by getting paid to reach your maximum potential as an NLC certified trainer. We will train you to be comfortable, effectively delivering classroom and field training to lineworkers at every stage of their career using modern technology and the best curriculum in the trade. This is everything you love about the trade, minus the late -night storm calls and long hours.

 

NLC’s Training Specialists are industry tradespeople with expertise in electric power, telecommunications, or natural gas. Before their first day of class, recently hired Training Specialists (we call them “Maroons”) complete NLC’s instructor training academy where they learn to excel as educators for adult learners. Every year, our Maroons deliver training to thousands of industry workers from pre-apprentice level to advanced, both on campus and all over the nation. A successful Training Specialist will have 8-10 years of applicable work experience, a deep love for training, the heart of a mentor and coach, and a passion to see people learn and grow.

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Conducts field and classroom training using the 4-step delivery method.
  • Prepares for knowledge and skill delivery each term in a proactive manner.
  • Maintains updated and current knowledge on all programs and catalogs. 
  • Identifies short falls and provides solutions ensuring the campus is always ready to deliver training. 
  • Works with training supervisor to identify and resolve areas of improvement and set professional goals. 
  • Identifies and recommends different approaches to training sessions, such as new materials, methodologies, and activities to enhance the learning experience of our students. 
  • Behaves in a way that encourages and inspires students and co-workers and contributes to a work environment that promotes teamwork and respect. 
  • Adheres to the Instructors Creed, Spirit Book, and Our Way manual. Shows the “What’s best for the student?” mindset.  Commits to continual self-improvement and lifelong learning; and ensuring the success of other Eagles and the organization, in accordance with NLC’s values, mission, and ethos.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Ability to climb and work in elevated positions up to 95’
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, to bend and reach and to move or carry items weighing up to 65 lbs
  • Ability to utilize personal fall arrest and positioning device systems within OSHA regulations and manufacturer’s recommendations (combined tool and body weight not to exceed 310 lbs, standard tool weight estimated at 45 lbs, body weight at or under 265 lbs.)

Required Education & Experience:

  • Journeyman lineman (certificate of completion of formalized apprenticeship program required)
  • Bilingual in English/ Spanish PREFERRED
  • Passion for training
  • Knowledge of regulations that apply to electrical linework (OSHA, NESC, etc.)
  • Excellent communicator who knows how to select the right tone and medium for the message
  • Proficient use of computers
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%+
  • CDL or ability to obtain is not required, but desirable
  • High level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism

Salary

STARTS AT $154,668.80 ANNUALLY ($74.36 HOURLY EQUIVALENT) + GREAT BENEFITS
$10,000 SIGN-ON BONUS, 12- MONTHS PAID HOUSING & RELOCATION ASSISTANCE
